Google Chrome uses Hunspell

Projects:
Spell checkers

The Google Chrome web browser offers spell checking abilities similar to Firefox. It does this by means of the Hunspell spell checker - the same one used by Firefox and OpenOffice.org. Hunspell is used by several pieces of software these days. In fact, almost all spell checking on new Linux distributions are done through Hunspell.

This is all good news considering that the ANLoc spell checker project implemented its spell checkers with Hunspell. Hopefully we'll be able to have Google Chrome also working with our spell checkers in the near future.

Keep me notified of this

Weytk, I have developed a hunspell dictionary for Secwepemctsin (http://shs.openoffice.org) I would like to know how to create a Chrome extension for this as well.

I'd also like to add this website is an inspiration and I would like to develop a similar one for all North American Indigenous Languages.

Keep up the good work.
