Wits Language School and Translate.org.za to host a course in localisation
Wits Language School and Translate.org.za are proud to host this cutting edge course in localisation.
Localisation involves translating websites, software, online documentation, etc., into the language of a specific target audience. It is also concerned with ensuring that a product’s content, style, graphics, and cultural conventions are appropriate to the country and language in which
it is to be used.
Participants are introduced to the theory and practice of localisation in the South African context, and carry out practical localisation tasks performed with localisation tools. Students who receive a Certificate of Competence may receive credit for one module in the Honours in the field of Translation.
This course will provide participants with an introduction to the most important concepts in software localisation, as well as providing a skills foundation that will be applicable in the industry. All you need is translation experience in any language spoken in Africa and we’ll teach you the rest!
The course combines contact and distance teaching.
The contact workshop days are:
- 19, 20, 21 July
- 30, 31 August, 1 September
- 13, 14 September
All successful participants will receive an Honours-level certificate of competence from Wits University (NQF level 8).
Course cost: R6500
